Bob Rue - Characters

Voices other than my own are fun. I have been asked to create voices for clients and love the opportunity to be creative. If you have the need for a unique voice take a listen to the "Character Voices Demo" in the Jukebox to the left.

Educational, Instructional & Narration

This type of voice work will always be my favorite, as it created my first professional opportunity way back in 1996 at Educational Management Group, a subsidiary of Simon-Schuster. I was selected to provide narration for their educational videos, the forerunner to e-learning. This experience led to everything else I've done as a professional voice talent, including commercials, imaging, audio books and tours, web voicing, e-learning, corporate narration, sales and safety programs, and so many other audio opportunities.

This past year brought the chance to do several movie trailers, an audio tour boat for Saguaro Lake, on- hold messaging for the U.S. Post Office, a prerecorded engineering awards program, and several real estate videos for ranch land and custom homes. Perhaps the one area that would be fun and challenging would be animation, which is on the list of things to do.

On-Hold

Let’s face it, one of life’s major frustrations is being put on hold, especially when the recording tells you “your call is important.” It happens to all of us, and therein lies the challenge, to create a warm, “we’re interested” experience for the person on hold. It isn’t easy, especially when just about every on hold script I receive sounds like just about every one ever written and recorded.

When the opportunity exists, my goal is to review, with the client, their current on hold message. It’s important for them to hear what their customer, patient, prospective client, as well as family and friends are forced to listen to while waiting. We’ll work together to develop a message that conveys an appreciation for the call and for the caller’s valuable time. Recent clients have included a national janitorial firm, the U.S. Postal Service, a regional dental practice, a national freight company, a three office Re/Max Realty firm, The Phoenix Film Office, and hundreds more for both small and large organizations.
